<description>[...] This place located at Ngada Regency. A sub-distric where the society of the Soa live numbering about 6,000. In the not-so-distant past, yearly ritual deer hunts used to take place in this district, at which time the teeth of pubescent girls were filed and blackened and boys were circumcised. After the deer was slain, the young girls would smear them selves with its blood to increase their fertility. Soa village is built around a huge amphitheatre with tiers of great megaliths forming walls at different levels. Needle-like stones on top serving as altars, have also been placed around the amphitheatre. In the center stand a peo totem pole shaped like a doll. Other traditional villages around Bajawa : - Kampung Bolozi, about 30 - 45 minute walk from Bajawa. - Nage, about 7 km from Bena. - Wogo &#38; Wogo Lama, about 18 km from Bajawa. - Boawae, about 41 km from Bajawa, centre of the Nage-Keo people.
